About the event

We usually have 4-5 short presentations and discussions of academic papers about the given topic. One of us then moderates a more general discussion about questions the papers provoke. We usually ask participants to reflect on their own experience or just brainstorm together in an informal way. The workshop is under Chatham House Rules so that everyone can freely speak up. The aim here is really to have an open discussion and reflection based on research but taking this only as a starting point and not necessarily as the center of debate.

We then move on to an informal Apero from 5 - 6 pm where an invited woman speaker shares her experiences. We have her tell us about herself, her career and really any experience she deems worthwhile and feels comfortable sharing with us. This part is mostly about understanding her path and the obstacles she did (or did not) face, what her impressions of gender discrimination along the way were, how that impacted her, etc. It's informal and most likely participants will have questions both along the way and after the talk so it morphs into something like a Q and A session.
